Back in action for the first time in a month, the Dodge City women's basketball team earned their tenth win of the season beating Pratt 84-49.
The win moves the Conquistadors to 10-5 on the season and 5-4 in KJCCC action while snapping a three-game losing streak to Pratt and giving Head Coach,
Landon Steele his 140th career win in college.
After falling behind 5-0 to open the game the Conqs answered with a 5-0 run to tie the game and by the end of the first quarter, the Conqs led 20-13. The lead quickly ballooned to double figures in the second quarter as the Conqs went on a 16-1 over a five-minute stretch to lead 34-14 and finished the first half on a 12-0 run to lead 46-17 at halftime behind a 26-4 second quarter.
The Conqs utilized their first-half lead and cruised in the second half to the 84-49 victory.
The ladies finished the night shooting 43% from the floor and their 84 points are the most in a Conference game this season, while 11 three-pointers contributed to that output, the 11 three's is the third time this season the Conqs have hit double-figure three-pointers in a game. Conqs tallied 22 assists on 34 made field goals and won the rebounding battle on the night +7, while holding Pratt to 27% shooting.
A career-high 18 points by
Samantha Koeberer paced the Conqs as she was 7-13 from the field including hitting four three-pointers while adding five rebounds and two steals. Three other Conqs tallied double figures as
Bree Stephens finished with a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, adding three assists.
Jenna Rose Mafua chipped in 12 points hitting four three-pointers, while
Jada Burton contributed 11 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
The Conqs have a quick turnaround as it's back to the action on the court on Saturday, January 15th at 1:00 pm against Barton.
