Men's Basketball Surpasses Century Mark in Win Over Neosho County

Back in action after the trip to New Mexico the Dodge City Community College men's basketball team is hosting the CONQ Classic and squared off with Neosho County on Friday night. 

The Conquistadors trailed early in the matchup but started to get the shots falling and held Neosho County in check to pick up the 108-79 victory to improve to 3-1 on the season. 

Conqs fell behind early against the Panthers of Neosho County and nearly 10 minutes into the contest trailed 20-18. A 6-0 run by the Conqs would push them to a 30-24 advantage with 6:45 remaining in the first half. The run would continue for the Conqs to a 54-34 lead at halftime as the Conqs were shooting 50% from the floor in the first half a held a 25-14 rebound margin edge. 

The lead would continue to grow in the second half as the Conqs spread the wealth around offensively with 11 different scorers in just the second half on their way to the 108-79 win. 

Conqs defense held Neosho to just 32.9% from floor and 28.3% from three-point range, while shooting 47.7% from the floor themselves and 34.8% from three-point range. Conqs had just seven turnovers in the contest and forced 15. 

A quartet of Conqs scored double figures as Themus Fulks led the way with 16 points, adding six assists and four rebounds. Kerwin Prince, Oumar Koureissi, and Kalen Williams each finished with 14 points. Williams grabbed six rebounds and shot 7-14, while Prince was 5-7 from the floor and 4-6 from the line, and Koureissi was 6-7 from the field. Nick Pringle finished with nine points and seven rebounds, while Jordan Love added nine points and both BJ Freeman and Jonathan Breeland each scored eight points. 

The Conqs will take on Labette at 4:00 pm on Saturday to wrap up the CONQ Classic with Garden City playing Neosho County at 2:00 pm. Garden City beat Labette 96-72 on Friday at the CONQ Classic.
