Baseball Drops Series Opener to Colby

The Conquistadors opened up KJCCC play with an afternoon double header tilt on the road against Colby. It was all Colby in game one, as they knocked off Dodge City by a score of 17-3 in a 5-inning, run rule fashion. Colby would then follow up the opening game win by taking the night cap by the final score of 11-7.

Game 1
Hayden Wilcox started on the mound for the Conquistadors, and was relieved after two innings. He would allow 7 runs on 6 hits, while collecting two strikeouts. Isaac Carlin, Clay Kelley, and Walker Greenlee would go on to finish the game on the mound. Offensively, the Conquistadors would be limited to eight hits. Ryan Santos, Connor Kessler, and Luke Smith all finished with multiple hits in the game. Colby, as an offense, would collect 12 hits, including 6 homeruns. The Trojans would score every inning and end the game after 4 and ½ innings by the final score of 17-3.

Game 2
The Conquistadors jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after an RBI single from Jake Miller to drive in Carrillo in the top of the 1st inning. Colby would respond by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the 1st. The Conquistadors would go on to score four runs in the top of the second to chase Colby's starter, Ryan Morgan. Colby's bullpen would go on to limit Dodge City's bats to 0 runs on 4 hits from the 3rd inning on until Carrillo would hit a solo homerun to lead off the top of the 9th. Miller and Justin Dunlap would collect back to back hits to add on another run in the 9th to cut the lead to 11-7, but that would be all the offense would scratch across before dropping the night cap 11-7. Leading the way offensively would be Carrillo, who would finish game two 4-5 at the plate and a triple shy of the cycle.
