(Dodge City, KS) -- The Dodge City Community College offense had a great day, and their pitch was great along with it to contribute to a pair of five-inning victories over Pratt, 11-1 in game one and 8-0 in game two.
Game one started fast with the Conqs scoring all of their eleven runs in the first two innings. They scored five in the first with
Jessica Espinoza scoring on an error, followed by
Samantha Montano scoring on a walk, and
Courtney Huff scoring on a fly-out.
Gianna Browdy would knock in the other two runs on a double. In the second Espinoza would knock in
Ericka Calderon by hitting a single.
Lexy Perez and
Alex Pacheco knocked in a run each on a single, and a double.
Courtney Huff also hit a three-run home run in the inning. At this point the Conqs led 11-0 and did not need any more offense as would cruise in the circle, going all five innings, and give up just one earned run.
Game two would be more of the same as the Conquistadors would get the 8-0 victory. The Conqs, however, started a bit slower. They would score just one run through two innings, with
Caley Best scoring on a ground out. They would come up with a big hit to get it started in the third, as Browdy cleared the bases hitting a grand slam, giving the Conquistadors a 5-0 lead. The Conqs would score three more over the final two innings, with Calderon, Espinoza, and Browdy scoring. It was Montano's turn in the circle and she was up for the challenge. She threw all five innings, giving up just three hits, and no runs.
