Game Recap: Baseball |

DC3 Baseball Finally Gets Back on the Field, Bats Don't Stay Hot

(El Reno, OK.) -- The Bats were not able to continue their massive hot streak over the almost two-week-long break, as Dodge City Community College Baseball split with Redlands CC. In the first game, the Conquistadors were able to rely on their pitching in a 6-0 victory, but in the second game, they fell after a big inning late from Redlands.

The first game started out as a pitcher's duel with neither team scoring in the first two innings. After that, the Conquistador bats started to come alive. They scored three runs in the top of the third to get out to a 3-0 lead. The Conqs would add three more runs over the final four innings to come away with the 6-0 victory in game one.

Garrett McGowan launched a two-run home run, and Padraic Walsh threw six innings of shutout baseball to seal the victory.

In game two, both teams were able to score early in a game that wound up not being high scoring. DC3 would score a run right away in the first inning, with an answer from Redlands, as they would also score one in each of the second and third innings. Dodge City Community College would add three more runs, one in the third, one in the fourth, and one in the sixth to take a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh. Unfortunately, Redlands would walk off on a grand slam from Casey Cooper to lead to the Conqs 6-4 loss.

Drake Angeron went deep in the game with a 2-run home run, and Luke Boline got the loss.

DC3 is scheduled to play Garden City Community College on the road on 3/14, and at home on 3/16.
