Box Score GARDEN CITY, Kan. – Coming off four consecutive wins, the Conqs traveled to Garden City Community College where they fell to the Broncbusters by a score of 69-47.
Allie Baker was the only Conquistador to score in double figures as she dropped 15 while the next closest was
Makaela Ewing and
Alec Fitts with six a piece. Ewing was also able to lead the Conquistadors with five rebounds.
The Broncbusters jumped out to an early lead but the Conqs quickly cut the lead to 9-8. Garden City then went on an 8-0, but the Conqs went on a 4-0 run of their own to end the first quarter, trailing 17-12.
Early in the second quarter, Garden City was able to extend their lead to seven points, but with just under two minutes to play,
Allie Baker knocked down a big three to cut the lead to four. The Busters were then able to finish the second quarter on a 4-0 run and take a 33-25 lead into halftime.
To start the third quarter, the Busters quickly extended their lead to 10, but another three by Baker cut the lead back to 35-28. In the next three minutes, Garden City slowly added to their lead, forcing Dodge City to call a timeout trailing, 41-30.
Coming out of the timeout, the Broncbusters went on a 5-0 run before
Rylee Burris drilled her first three of the game to bring it back to 47-33 with 2:20 left to play in the quarter. A three from Garden City to take a 50-35 lead into the final quarter silenced a quick 5-0 run by the Conqs.
Garden City continued to add to their lead for the entirety of the fourth quarter, sealing the win and snap the Conquistadors' four-game winning streak, 69-47.
The Conqs are now 9-13 overall and move to 6-13 in KJCCC play. They will be in action again on Wednesday as they travel to Butler at 5:30 p.m. The Grizzlies took the first meeting in Dodge City, 75-54.
