Box Score DODGE CITY, Kan. - On the night of the volleyball team's home opener, the Conqustadors were able to take down the Beavers in three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-15.
On the day,
Jaylen Pegues finished just short of a double-double with nine kills and 11 digs, while also collecting three block assists.
Alex Stecklein led the Conqa with 13 digs.
Raquel Valdez also collected nine kills on the day and totaled three blocks to help lead Dodge City to a 3-0 win.
Gabriella Valdez assisted on 30 plays on the day and also had two service aces.
Dodge City carried their strong finish on the weekend into Monday night. The Conqs came out strong in set one, jumping out to an early lead and never looking back. Late in the set, the Beavers were able to make a short run, but the Conqs fired right back, taking the set, 25-18.
In set two, Pratt was able to take a lead early in the set, but Dodge City would not give in, battling back and taking the lead late in the set. With a strong finish to the set, the Conqs won set two by a score of 25-21.
With a win within their sites, the Conquistadors came out for the third set fired up and completed the sweep by defeating the Beavers by a score of 25-15, taking the set and winning the match, 3-0.
The Conqs move to 8-5 on the year and will be in action again this weekend as they play on Friday at 1 p.m., vs. Butler and at 7 p.m., vs. Labette in the Dodge City Invitational.
