Box Score 2 LAMAR, CO. - After leaving Dodge City bright and early this morning, the Dodge City Community College Volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Little Ceasar Invitational in Lamar, Colorado by winning a five-set thriller over Trinidad State Junior College before dropping a three-set decision to Otero Junior College. 
In the first match against the Trojans, DC3 took the first set 25-21 before dropping a close second set 23-25. In an important third set, the Conquistadors flipped the script to take the set 25-23 but could not close out the match by dropping the fourth set 21-25. Facing a winner-take-all fifth set, DC3 jumped out of the gates early and cruised to a 15-6 set win to earn their first win of the season. 
Briana Brown led the Conqs in assists against TSJC with 24 while sophomore 
Sada Smith had an all-around performacnce with 16 kills and 13 digs. 
Mariah Watkins added nine kills of her own while 
Tenille Tholen picked up 11 digs. 
Looking to feed off the momentum of the first match, DC3 stayed close in two of the three sets against Otero, but could not get over the hump eventually dropping the match by scores of 22-25, 16-25, 22-25. 
Smith picked up where she left off by adding 10 kills in the match while 
Daisy Cheek led the team in assists with 11. Freshman middle blocker 
Raquel Valdez showed well in the second match by finishing with six kills and three solo blocks against the Rattlers. 
What's Next?
Due to a schedule change, DC3 will meet the Rattlers again with revenge on their mind taking the court for a 1 p.m. match before playing host Lamar Junior College at 3 p.m. Check back to goconqs.com tomorrow throughout the day for updates as well as @goconqs, the official Twitter handle of Dodge City Community College Athletics.
