DODGE CITY, Kan. - Having already been named first-team all Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference selections, Dodge City Community College sophomore linebackers
Gary Johnson and
Marquise Blair have been named to the first team of the NJCAA Region VI All-Region Team, region director Mike Saddler announced on Friday morning.
A Douglas, Alabama native, Johnson was a force this past season, finishing with 82 tackles despite playing in only nine games. Johnson also had one interception and five forced fumbles while recovering one fumble. In addition to holding the career tackles record at DC3 with 215 total tackles, Johnson finishes second in Dodge City history with 12.5 sacks.
Blair led the team in tackles with 100 total tackles while starting all 11 games for the Conqs. In addition to leading the team in sacks with three, Blair had four forced fumbles, recovered three fumbles, and had a team high four interceptions. The Wooster, Ohio native finishes second in a career in interceptions (6), fourth in total tackles (164), and fourth in career sacks (11).
Dodge City finished the 2016 campaign with a 7-4 record and in a three-way tie for second place in the KJCCC.
