Box Score DODGE CITY, Kan. - Needing a victory to clinch an NJCAA Region VI berth, the Dodge City Community College women's soccer team found a goal in the 75th minute and held on to beat Hesston College by a score of 1-0 at Memorial Stadium in Dodge City on Sunday, October 23rd.
DC3 is now 8-7-0 overall and while the Larks conclude regular-season action with a 12-5 record.
The first half would have little action, with neither team truly able to control possession and only three shots on goal. In the second half, a very similar start as the first half would break out before
Begona Rodriguez-Bravo would convert on only one of two shots on goal for the Conquistadors to find the back of the net after a pass was sent in by
Cynthia Rodela. Hesston would get a few chances to find an equalizer, but Dodge City would run out the clock to earn the victory and extend their season into next week.
The Larks doubled up the Conquistadors in shots 14-7 and held a 7-3 shots on goal advantage. DC3 goalie
Emily Goldman would go the distance in net, earning the shutout win and making five saves.
"We were very good invidually, but we weren't stringing anything together or putting anything together as a team to become dangerous in the first half" said head coach
Tim Romanello in a postgame interview.
Dodge City will play next Saturday in the NJCAA Region VI Tournament at Butler with a time to be determined.
