Box Score DODGE CITY, Kansas: Dodge City women's basketball hit the hardwood tonight on Sophomore Night, looking for that next Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference victory. Unfortunately, a win was not in the cards as the Broncbusters of Garden City outscored the Conqs 86-71.
Dodge played admirably on both offensive and defense, collecting 21 made field goals for a 36.8 percentage and pulled down 34 boards on the night.
All six sophomores had productive games tonight and four Conqs were in the double figures, including sophomores
Tara Whipple and
Azaria Nave.
Whipple had an all-around stellar game with 13 points after knocking down four from the field and going 5-7 from the free throw line, while pulling down six boards and posting two steals.
Nave was good for 11 points with three from the field, including one from long distance. The guard also put up 4-6 from the stripe and led the team with seven rebounds and three assists.
Antania Newton and
Talisha Presley also put up an offensive game for the Conqs. Newton posted 11 points and three boards while Presley picked up 10 points after a 6-6 performance from the stripe and two from the field.
Sophomores
Hannah Whitaker,
Alejandra Esparza and
Johlicia Williams also posted good numbers towards the Conqs' effort. Whitaker added five boards, four points and three blocks. Esparza knocked down four points and pulled down three boards while Williams added six points, two blocks and three boards.
DC3 closes out regular season next Wednesday, February 25 at Butler at 5:30 p.m.
