Box Score DODGE CITY, Kan. -- The Dodge City Community College volleyball team appeared primed to send its match against rival Garden City Community College into a fourth game Monday evening as the Conquistadors held a 24-19 lead in the third set after dropping the first two.
However, the Lady Busters scored five straight points to tie it up and eventually won the third set 27-25 to complete the sweep 3-0 (25-5, 25-17, 27-25) at DC3 Gymnasium.
The third set started well as the Conqs (4-26 overall, 1-10 KJCCC) jumped out to a 14-10 lead and forced Garden City (4-27, 2-9) to call a timeout.
The Lady Busters cut the deficit to 16-14 before a well-placed tip kill by
Hailee Hoskinson broke the mini Garden City streak. DC3 built its lead to five before falling short in the third and final set.
Hoskinson and
Sada Smith led DC3 with six kills in the match,
Briana Brown had a team-high 16 assists while
Katie Garcia finished with a DC3-best 12 digs.
The Conqs host Colby 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
