GAME NOTES: No. 17 Dodge City CC vs. Fort Scott

RECENT HISTORY
- Since 2009, DC3 is 1-5 against Fort Scott with its lone win coming in 2013 – a 37-36 victory at Memorial Stadium. Last season the Conquistadors lost to Fort Scott 49-38 in Fort Scott.

 

PREVIOUS GAME
- The Conqs are fresh off a 27-14 victory over then-ranked No. 8 Hutchinson on the road Saturday – DC3's first victory in Hutchinson since 2006.
- Fort Scott is coming off of a 31-25 loss to Highland at home Saturday – a game the Greyhounds trailed 20-9 after the first quarter.

- The DC3 defense is tied for seventh in the NJCAA in turnovers forced with 16. Its nine interceptions is tied for fifth in the country while its seven fumble recoveries is tied for 14th.
- The DC3 defense is also sixth in the NJCAA in sacks with 23 and tied for fourth in defensive touchdowns with three.
- DC3 running back and Florida commit Mark Thompson leads the NJCAA in rushing attempts with 127. He's sixth in the country in rushing yards per game (127.6) and rushing yards (638) and third in rushing touchdowns (10). His 18 career touchdowns is two short of the school-record of 20 set by Tyreis Thomas in 2013.
- DC3 freshman quarterback Tommy Lazzaro completed a season-best 75 percent of his passes against Hutchinson last week (15 of 20). He also had 202 yards passing to give him 1,127 on the season – 12th in the NJCAA.
- DC3 receiver and Tennessee commit Jeff George is 12th in the NJCAA in receiving yards with 431, but his big play ability is shown in his yards per catch as he's fifth in the country at 20.7 yards per reception.
- DC3's Dillon Burkhard still owns the sixth-longest field goal in the NJCAA this season – the 45-yard field goal he booted with room to spare against Iowa Western on Sept. 19 in Dodge City (Troy Duran from Kilgore has the longest this season at 50 yards). Burkhard also owns the third-most punts downed inside the 20 this season with eight.
- Fort Scott enters Saturday's contest with an extremely balanced attack – the Greyhounds have thrown for 727 yards and rushed for 723. However, Fort Scott has rushed the ball 241 times compared to throwing it 130 times.
