Box Score 4 IOLA, Kansas: DC3 volleyball was downed four consecutive times this weekend, putting their overall record at 4-17 so far in the 2014 season.
Fort Scott took the first match yesterday in straight sets, putting the Conqs down 22-25, 10-25 and 14-25. During the three sets,
Hailee Hoskinson led the team with 10 kills with no attack errors for a .555 attack percentage.
Slattery was next in line with five kills, while
Katie Garcia owned 11 digs,
Daisy Cheek and
Alexis Sanchez posted 10 and nine assists respectively.
Brandi Fairbank was good for one solo block while
Cynthia Cisneros commanded service with three aces.
The next matchup against Independence went through to five sets, with the opposition coming away with the 3-2 victory. Dodge won the first set 25-20, before Indy posted a 25-16 and 26-24 set of decisions to go up 2-1 in the match.
DC3 won the next set 25-18 but was put down 11-15 in the last set to lose.
Cheek led with 27 assists and posted three service aces while Slattery added six kills, four aces and four block assists for the offensive.
Rachel Virbickis and Hoskinson led the attack with seven kills apiece. Virbickis added one block solo and Hoskinson was good for two block assists.
Samantha Endres aso posted 21 saves in the five sets.
The second day of the tournament proved to look very similar to the first, with the Conqs falling 3-0 to Neosho County (18-25, 24-26, 16-25) in the first matchup and again in five sets to Allen Country for the second.
Against Neosho, Doussa led the team with a .636 attack percentage after putting up seven kills and adding two block solos and Virbickis added eight kills and one block solo.
Hoskinson helped the effort with seven kills, while Cheek owned 33 assists and ten digs and Endres owned 15 digs throughout the game.
Things looked good in the last game of the tournament with the Conqs going up 25-21 and 25-16 in the first two sets.
Then the team fell 17-25 and 23-25 to even the sets up 2-2. Allen managed a 15-10 decision to close out the victory over Dodge.
Slattery garnered a big 13 kills in the game while Hoskinson was good four nine. Fairbank posted one block solo and three block assists and Cheek added 33 assists, two serve aces and 14 digs. Endres also had 30 digs in this game while Cisneros had 16 along with one ace.
The Conqs will play again at Colby on Monday, September 22 at 6:30 p.m.
