Box Score DODGE CITY, Kansas: Offensive powerhouse Hutchinson was too much for Dodge City volleyball to handle tonight as they pulled off the win in straight sets, defeating the Conqs 25-18, 25-22 and 25-9.
The first set was a close call for the Blue Dragons and the Conquistadors fought to gain 18 points, but a late set run put the opposition past them for the 25-18 victory to start things off. The second set was even closer as the Conqs earned the lead early on, but too many costly errors put Hutchinson ahead, eventually propelling them toward the 25-22 win. Hutchinson owned the third set from the beginning, working to end the game quickly after putting in a 25-9 set score performance.
Hutchinson commanded the offensive effort with 45 kills in 102 attacks, while Dodge City collected 21 kills on 101 attacks. The Blue Dragons garnered a .314 attack percentage on the night against the Conquistadors.
Hailee Hoskinson tabbed seven kills and only two attack errors in 18 total attempts for a .278 hitting percentages. She also posted five digs and one block assist.
Darrie Rogers owned six kills on the night in 15 attempts with two attack errors for a .267 attack percentage against the Blue Dragons.
Emily Slattery also helped the Conq effort with four kills on the day while adding one block solo and one block assist throughout three sets.
Daisy Cheek held down the floor for DC3 with 15 assists and one service aces. She posted a .923 serving percentage on the night after owning only one service error in the 13 total serves.
Tomorrow, October 16, the Conqs will hit the road to take on Cloud County at 6:30 p.m. They will return home on Saturday, October 18 to give Seward County a run for their money at 11 a.m. in the DC3 Gymnasium.
