Mike Smith joined Dodge City athletic staff in August 2021 as Sports Information Director and is in his fifth year as part of the staff at Dodge City. 

During his time at Dodge City he has increased the coverage of Conquistador athletics in several facets including social media, website, live stream, and more. He's helped Dodge City have one of the top social media presences in the KJCCC, along with one of the top NJCAA Sidearm Sports websites, and top live streams. He serves as play-by-play announcer for several Conquistador sports along with producing several other video pieces of content. In just the third month on the job he was named the 2YSIDA Sports Information Department of the Month in October 2021. He has also earned multiple design awards from College Sports Communicators (previously known as CoSIDA), including "Best in the Nation" the the College Division (NCAA DII, DIII, NAIA, and two-year colleges) in Fall Sports Gameday Graphics in 2023. Smith currently serves on the CSC two-year cabinet board, 2YSIDA committee member, and help organize and run several KJCCC things from Player of Week honors, All-Conference, and more.   

Prior to joining the staff at Dodge City, Smith worked as Sports Information Director at Pacific University (NCAA DIII) in Forest Grove, OR. He was in charge of all media aspects of Boxer athletics from live stream, social media, graphics, statistics, gameday management, and more. 

Smith spent two years at Highland Community College as the school's first official Sports Information Director while also serving as the "Voice of the Scotties" doing the play-by-play announcing on all live stream broadcasting. He oversaw all media aspects of Scottie sports from the live stream to social media, graphics, media guides and more. He hosted and helped develop Scottie Sports Talk show and Scottie Sports Awards honoring Highland athletes for their performances.

Prior to joining Highland, Smith spent the better part of seven years in local radio with KNZA Inc a group of radio stations in Northeast Kansas and Southeast Nebraska. He served as one of the primary sports broadcasters for high school sports and legion baseball for 92.1 KMZA and 103.9 KNZA broadcasting sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball, wrestling and track. While working for KNZA Smith expanded their sports coverage and helped develop one of the most extensive high school sports websites in the State of Kansas (www.mscsports.net). 

Smith also worked for Roanoke College a Division III school in Roanoke, Virginia working for their athletic department as a broadcaster and in media relations broadcasting sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, field hockey, softball, baseball and lacrosse, while also helping the school develop a bi-weekly sports talk show highlight Roanoke athletics. 

He also has experience working for Offense-Defense a youth football camp company as Smith helped develop promotional material for the company and helped live stream their camps. 

A 2010 graduate of the University of Kansas, Smith got his start in broadcasting at KU where he broadcasted KU athletics and hosted a sports talk show on 90.7 KJHK the KU student radio station. Smith has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism with a focus in News & Information.
