Abolanle “Bondie” Onipede enters her second season at Dodge city as assistant volleyball coach joining the program in April of 2023. 

In her first season she helped lead the Conquistadors the team posted a 16-17 record and 6-10 in KJCCC action. Year two saw a five win improvement for the Conqs as the team finished 21-14 and went 11-5 in KJCCC play. The Conqs earned a third place finish in the KJCCC the highest since 2010 during the 2024 season. Eight Conqs have earned All-KJCCC Conference honors in two seasons that Onipede has been on staff. 

Onipede brings with her multiple years of experience from coaching and playing, along with great knowledge of the game of volleyball to Dodge City. She most recently served as an assistant volleyball coach at Lee Junior College in Texas where she helped coached a pair of players to all-conference honors. Before moving back to Texas the Houston native started her coaching career at Missouri Southern State University in 2018 as an assistant coach and coached for the Lions for three years. During her tenure with the Lions, she helped them to their first conference tournament appearance since 2007, which broke an 11-year drought, and coached multiple All-MIAA honorees. 

As a player, Bondie started her career in junior college and then played at the NCAA Division I level achieving great success along the way. She started her collegiate playing career under Coach Mellinger in 2014 and as a freshman was part of a Blinn team that went 40-1 and won the NJCAA Division I National Championship. Bondie was first-team all-conference, All-Region XIV, and earned NJCAA DI National Tournament all-tournament team honors, as she finished with 278 kills with a .398 hitting percentage and recorded 111 blocks. In her sophomore campaign, she helped Blinn post a 31-12 record and finish ranked seventh, once again earning first-team all-conference and all-region honors and recording 292 kills, along with 12 aces, 42 digs, and 134 blocks.

After her two years at Blinn, she would transfer to the SEC and play for the University of Alabama where in two seasons she played in 32 matches recording 106 kills, 32 digs, and 36 blocks during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. 

Bondie earned her Bachelor of Science in general studies – human environmental sciences from the University of Alabama and then went on to earn her Master of Science in Education – instruction and curriculum from Missouri Southern State University.
