Holguin was hired as a volunteer assistant in 2011 to start his coaching career at Pima and then was promoted to Assistant Coach in 2014, then Associate Head Coach in 2016, as he played a major role in propelling the program to the next level along the way.

During his time at Pima, Holguin helped guide the program to new heights alongside head coach David Cosgrove. The pair pushed the program into the NJCAA National Tournament seven times (2011, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021), a feat that had only been done twice (1988, 1999) in the program's history before-hand. In 2018, Pima won the National Tournament defeating Conquistador KJCCC foe Barton Community College in the national championship.

In addition to the 2018 National Championship, Pima were also semi-finalists in 2015 and 2017. Since 2011, they've been NJCAA Region I Champions five times, NJCAA West District Champions four times, Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) Champions three times, and the staff was named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Coaching Staff of the Year in 2018. With Holguin as the head recruiter, the program has had an NJCAA All-American every year since 2015 with six in total during that time.

A native of Arizona, Holguin courted offers to play NCAA Division I soccer out high school but opted to stay in state and be a student at the University of Arizona. After graduating in 2009, he decided to scratch his soccer itch by coaching with TanqueVerde Soccer Club and FC Tucson Youth Club before joining the Pima Community College staff in 2011.
