Brian Bounds was hired as Head Athletic Trainer for Dodge City athletics in August of 2020.
During his tenure at Dodge City he was helped usher the Conquistadors through the CoVID time period, along with develop and maintain several protocols and procedures to help Conquistador athletes. He also served as the interim head coach for the Conquistadors women's soccer team for the CoVID spring 2021 season.
Brian Bounds was in St. Louis, Missouri working for Mercy Hospital. During his five years with Mercy, he served as the head athletic trainer for the St. Louis Football Club, the St. Louis Ambush, and in high school settings around the city. During his time with St. Louis FC, a professional soccer organization in the United Soccer League he maintained traditional athletic training duties and was also responsible for the creation of the Sports Medicine Task Force and Committee. He also worked to establish policies and procedures for athletic care, individualized player care plans, and instituted a player code of conduct.
Prior to his time with St. Louis FC, Brian was the Head Athletic Trainer for Indian Hills Community College, an NJCAA Region XI member. While at IHCC, he was responsible for the daily operation of the athletic training department, which included providing sole athletic training coverage for 10 sports and 200+ athletes. He also developed an extensive athletic training program, including classroom instruction, that allowed for a student athletic training program. He was also integral in the designing and building of a brand-new athletic training department which included the construction of three new athletic training rooms. All in all, he turned a nonexistent athletic training department into one of the best in the country at the junior college level.
Bounds has also held stints in Major League Soccer for Sporting KC, at Northwestern University in Chicago, and at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. While studying physical therapy in Springfield, Bounds began his own strength and conditioning company that specialized in the enhancement of performance strictly for footballers called Bounds Soccer Systems. He also served as the strength and conditioning coach for the Springfield Soccer Club during that time.
He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist, on top of being a certified and licensed athletic trainer and is certified in Functional Movement Screen. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology from Michigan State University and a Master's in Physical Therapy from Missouri State University. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Athletic Training from Moravian College in Pennsylvania.
