Sean Kelly spent two seasons with Dodge City and serves as the wide receiver’s coach.
In his second season he helped the Conquistadors to an 8-3 record as the team claimed the programs first ever bowl game victory beating New Mexico Military Institute 35-7 in the Wool Bowl. The Conqs finished second in the KJCCC and #6 in the final NJCAA rankings. He coached four wide receivers during the 2023 season who earned All-KJCCC honors. In his first year on staff the Conqs went 3-7 during teh 2022 season.
He rekindled his playing career in 2023 with the Southwest Storm who competes in the Champions Indoor Football League in Dodge City. He played in two games as quarterback tossing a 27-yard touchdown in a win over the Arlington Longhorns and then started in a win (41-6) over the Rapid City Marshals going 16-22 for 155 yards with five touchdowns.
Kelly comes to Dodge City after spending two seasons a Monroe College coaching wide receivers under Head Coach Terry Karg. He helped coach a group that contributed to a strong Mustang offense that averaged 38.4 points per game (ninth in NJCAA) on 353.5 yards per game (20th in NJCAA) including 202.7 passing yards per game (16th in NJCAA) during 2021 season a Monroe finish 10-1 and ranked 6th in the Nation in final NJCAA polls. Monroe passing offense also ranked fourth in passing yards per completion and eighth in passing touchdowns in the NJCAA.
Before coaching Kelly played college football spending his first two seasons playing quarterback at Monroe College under Coach Karg before transferring to Missouri Southern State University to finishing his playing career. While at Monroe helped the Mustangs go 7-2 his freshman year (2016) and 8-2 his sophomore campaign (2017) and earned All-NEFC second team honors his sophomore year. In his two seasons at Monroe in 14 games he threw for 1,677 yards with 19 touchdowns and only six interceptions, while adding 121 yards rushing with seven touchdowns.
After Monroe, Kelly transferred to Missouri Southern State where he was the starting quarterback his junior season (2018) playing in 11 games throwing for 883 yards while rushing with 157 yards and three touchdowns. His senior year (2019) he played in five games throwing with 338 yards with 125 yards with two touchdowns.
Kelly earned his Bachelor’s of Arts from Missouri Southern State (2020) and his MBA from Monroe College (2021).
