Coach Richard Dorceus spent two seasons at Dodge City as the Offensive Coordinator and offensive line coach.
In his first year leading the offense for the Conquistadors the Conqs three offense players earned All-KJCCC honors in 2022; with one earning second team honors and the other two earning honorable mention as the Conqs posted a 3-7 record. Year two saw the Conqs make history winning the programs first ever bowl game as they beat New Mexico Military Institute 35-7 in the Wool Bowl. The Conqs finished the 2023 season 8-3 taking second in the KJCCC and finishing #6 in the final NJCAA rankings. He coached 13 offensive Conq players to All-KJCCC honors and also a pair of Conqs to earn NJCAA All-American honors in Greg Genross (TE) and Jalen Smith (RB).
Prior to coming to Dodge City, Dorceus spent three seasons at Monroe College where he served as the run game coordinator and offensive line coach, coaching under Head Coach Terry Karg. In his first season at Monroe (2019) the Mustang offense saw great success since Dorceus joined the staff with the Mustangs leading the country in points per game with 49.8. In addition, the Monroe offence ranked #2 in the country in total running TD’s with 39. He helped guide the Mustangs in 2021 to a 10-1 record and a #6 national ranking to finish the season with a trip to the Graphic Edge Bowl; as the offense averaged 38.4 PPG (9th in Nation); 353.5 ypg (20th in Nation); 202.7 ypg passing and 150.7 ypg rushing; eighth (26) & ninth (24) passing and rushing touchdowns. He developed several scholarship division one offensive lineman
Prior to Monroe, Dorceus started his coaching career in 2011, as the varsity defensive line coach at Hayfield Secondary School in Alexandria, VA. During his tenure there, his defensive line set several school records including most sacks and tackles for loss in a season. In 2015, Dorceus was named the offensive line coach at Paint Branch High School in Burtonsville, MD. He coached several offensive linemen and tight ends to earn All-MOCO recognition, two were named All-State (Maryland) 1st team, and two earned the most prestigious honor of being named the Washington Post’s All-Met 1st team. At Paint Branch HS, he set a foundation for the offensive linemen strength standards and skill development, which led a significant number of offensive linemen and tight ends to earn football scholarships.
Dorceus played his college football at Howard University. He started as a true freshman and earned postseason recognition as a top-ten center in the nation. Other honors include being named captain in 2004 and 2005, Howard’s Offensive Linemen of the Year (2003 and 2005), MEAC Offensive Linemen of the Week four times, and Second Team All-MEAC in 2005.
Dorceus received his Bachelor Degree in Journalism from Howard University, in 2005 and Master’s Degree in Human Development and Special education from George Washington University, in 2011. He grew up in Orlando, Florida where he attended Maynard Evans High School. There he was a three year starter and he was named several different honors his senior year including Leon Searcy OL of the year, 6A 1st Team All-State, and Top 100 Player in the State of Florida. He is the proud father a one daughter.
