Mitch Corwin is a 2008 graduate of Buhler (KS) High School and actually came to Dodge City Community College as a walk-on catcher for the baseball team. Eventually after an injury during his freshman year, Corwin was converted to an outfielder and it may have been the best move he ever made in baseball. It led to an outstanding career for Conquistador baseball.

When Corwin finished his playing days he had numerous season and career records for DC3 baseball. He left Dodge City as the season record holder in batting average at .431, hits with 91, and doubles with 25, along with holding the record for career hits (144) and doubles (41) and still holds some of those records. He currently ranks in school history: single season - first in doubles (25 - 2011), second in batting average (.431), tied for second in triples (8 - 2011), second in hits (91 - 2011), tied for seventh in runs (57 - 2011), tied for seventh in triples (5 - 2010), and seventh in RBI (62); career - first in doubles (41), tied for first in triples (13), second in hits (144), third in batting average (.389), fourth in RBI (107), and tied fourth runs (97).

In addition to the records he set for DC3 baseball, Corwin received big honors from both Region VI and the Jayhawk Conference. He was named the 2011 Region VI Player of the Year as well as being named first team All-Region VI as an outfielder. He was also was named first-team All-KJCCC West as an outfielder that year.

After Dodge City, Corwin went on to play at Colorado Mesa University. He played two years and graduated from Colorado Mesa.Â
