Casey Malek served Dodge City Community College in many roles through his time with Conquistador Athletics. He started as an assistant men's basketball coach, progressed to head men's basketball coach, and was eventually the head men's golf coach. Malek also served as the athletic director for DC3 on two different occasions.Â
Malek is the second winningest coach in DC3 men's basketball history with 152 wins, and his 1982 and 1984 teams both won Region VI Championships. His 1982 team went on to participate in the NJCAA National tournament.Â
After his stint as the men's basketball coach, Malek went on to have an extremely successful career as the men's golf coach for the Conquistadors, which he would do for 21 seasons. During his tenure as the head men's golf coach, the Conquistadors won six Jayhawk Conference championships and five NJCAA District III championships. His teams were nationally ranked 18 of his 21 seasons and they made appearances at the NJCAAÂ National tournament in all 21 years. Malek also served as the President of the NJCAA Men's Golf Coaches Association. During that time he served as the Tournament Director for the NJCAA National Golf Tournament held in Dodge City in 2004 and 2005.Â
In addition to these coaching duties, Malek also served two different stints as the athletic director for DC3 and also served as the interim head women's basketball coach in 1991. To this day Malek is one of just two coaches in school history to win conference and regional championships in two different sports.Â
