Induction Year: 2017

Pete Emelianchik, from Brooklyn, New York, spent his first year as a Conquistador playing football as a tight end and running track and field in the spring.

It would be the fall of 1962 that would put the young New York native on the map, finishing as an All-Conference, All-Region, and second team All-American to become only the ninth football player in Dodge City Community College history to earn the honor. He helped the team post a 6-4 record in 1962.

Following Emelianchik's time at Dodge City, another football scholarship offer would see him heading back to the east coast where he would spend the next three years at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. Emelianchik would become an All-Southern Conference selection for the Spiders, while also earning Associated Press honorable mention All-American status his senior year. In 1963, Emelianchik would finish tied for 15th in all of the NCAA with four receiving touchdowns and follow up by finishing tied for 10th in the NCAA with five receiving touchdowns in 1964. In total, Emelianchik would catch 37 passes for 411 total yards as a Spider.

Following his time at the University of Richmond, Emelianchik would go on to sign a free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, appearing in the regular season finale as a special teams player against Cleveland.

After retiring from playing football, Emelianchik moved back to Brooklyn, where he taught physical education and hygiene for 32 years at an intermediate school.

Pete Emelianchik is happily retired while residing in Brooklyn, New York.Â
