Athletic Training

The athletic training and sports medicine department at Dodge City Community College is dedicated to delivering the highest quality of care to its student-athletes.  Athletes at DC3 will have access to state-of-the-art athletic training facilities and first-rate athletic injury care.  The athletic training facilities are top-of-the-line and are some of the best in the country at the junior college level.  Athletes can expect timely and efficient delivery of needed services in the event of an injury sustained while participating in sports here.

With that in mind, Dodge City Athletics employs three certified and licensed athletic trainers with more than 50 years combined of athletic training, physical therapy, and performance enhancement experience at all levels of play and are able to respond to the various sports medicine needs of our athletes.  An athletic trainer specializes in the evaluation, recognition, care, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention of athletic injuries.  A vast network of area physicians specializing in numerous areas is also available to the athletes here in the event it is needed.  A general practice physician, orthopedic surgeon, chiropractic physician, and physical therapist regularly evaluate and treat our athletes at the school.  Athletes will have access to various modalities such as heat, ice, whirlpools, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, laser/infrared, manual therapy, and therapeutic exercise to help aid in the treatment of their injuries.

Through a combination of medical specialists and the daily commitment of the athletic trainers, the sports medicine team at DC3 covers a broad entity of healthcare.  The goal is to return the athlete back from injury as safely and efficiently as possible as well as prevent injuries and enhance performance.   The athletic training and sports medicine team at DC3 aspires to provide the most thorough and complete approach in the treatment and care of our athletes resulting in a competitive level of excellence for each individual DC3 student-athlete.
