Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 Riding a wave of momentum, the Dodge City volleyball team put together a 5-0 week as they capped non-conference play with a 4-0 performance at the New Mexico Junior College Invitational in Hobbs, New Mexico.  
 
The Conquistadors opened the NMJC Invite by beating Vernon in straight sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-18) and then wrapped up day one of the tournament by picking up a signature win over #9 New Mexico Military Institute. The Conqs won in four sets over NMMI (25-22, 25-19, 19-25, 25-23). Day two of action saw the Conqs beat Polk State in four sets (25-9, 23-25, 25-17, 25-20) and capped the tournament with a straight-set win over North Platte (25-18, 25-10, 25-17). 
 
With the 4-0 weekend, the Conqs moved to 14-4 on the season, and with 14 wins this season, coach Erin Mellinger has moved into fourth all-time in school history in career wins at Dodge City. 
 
The Conqs' attention is now firmly on KJCCC play for the rest of the season, and a busy week stands in front of the Conqs with three conference matchups. Conqs start the week against #10 Barton in Great Bend on Monday, September 14^th, and then will host Hutchinson on Wednesday, September 16^th, before capping the week on Saturday, September 19^th,on the road against Seward County. 
 
Won 3-0 vs Vernon 
The Conqs spread the offensive attack around in the NMJC Invite opener as they tallied 44 kills, with nine different players recording a kill. The Conqs controlled the match, building a four- or five-point lead midway through each set and winning 25-18, 25-17, and 25-18 to take the match. 
 
Chelsea Durbridge had her fingerprints all over the win, recording 40 assists while adding eight digs, two kills, and three blocks. Anete Celnova tallied 12 kills on a .320 hitting percentage along with five digs. Delany Childs chipped in nine kills. 
 
Won 3-1 vs #9 NMMI
The Conqs picked up a signature win, knocking off #9 New Mexico Military Institute and using the block to help lead their performance. After going back-and-forth early in the first set, the Conqs worked to a 14-10 lead, and NMMI called a timeout. Out of the timeout, the Conqs went on a 6-1 run to take a commanding lead at 20-11 and went on to win the first set 25-22. Conqs again established control midway in the second set and, behind a 7-2 run down the stretch, picked up the second-set win, 25-19. NMMI responded by taking the third set 25-19 and held the early lead in the fourth set until the Conqs tied it at 14-14. Conqs pushed ahead by Cantrill's back-to-back aces, going up 17-15, but then fell behind 20-18, only to push back late and win the match with a 25-23 fourth set.
 
Contributions came from all over for the Conqs as the defense saw the Conqs record 16 blocks, as Childs had 11 block assists. Rian Muntaner tallied 16 digs in the contest, while Sunni Skipps had a double-double with 10 digs and 17 kills. Kayla Cantrill added 16 kills, and Durbridge had another big matchup with 47 assists, 11 digs, and six block assists. 
 
Won 3-1 vs Polk State 
Conqs wasted no time starting the day strong as they opened the match against Polk State on a 12-1 run, and it was the third time this season the Conqs held an opponent to single digits in a set, winning the first set 25-8. After a dominant first set, the Conqs were surprised by Polk State and dropped the second set 25-23. However, the Conqs settled back in and responded by taking control midway through the third set to win it 25-17 and then claim the fourth set 25-20 to take the match. 
 
Cantrill and Skipps both posted double-digit kills for the second straight match with 12 and 10, respectively. Celnova and Muntaner each posted double-digit dig performances with 13 and 14, while Durbridge finished with 32 assists, three aces, and seven digs. 
 
Won 3-0 vs North Platte 
In the final match of the NMJC Invite, the Conqs saw North Platte hang tough early in the first set, but down the stretch the Conqs lead expanded on the way to a 25-18 first set. Set two was 5-0 Conqs quick, and the lead ballooned to double figures at 13-3 as the Conqs ultimately took the set 25-10. Once again, about midway through the set, the Conqs had established control, leading 15-10 in the third as they took it 25-17 to win the match over North Platte. 
 
Five different Conqs recorded four or more kills in the tournament finale, led by Cantrill, who had seven along with seven digs. Durbridge posted 18 assists in the win as the Conqs capitalized on 24 attack errors by North Platte.
