Dodge City men's soccer made a trip down to Texas and took on Western Texas in the third match of the season, logging their first win with a 2-0 decision.
The Conquistadors, with the win, moved to 1-1-1 on the season and will wrap up their Texas road trip with another matchup on Sunday, August 30
th against Ranger.
The shots were limited on the day both ways as both teams battled for possession throughout the contest. After a quiet start to the match, the Conqs earned a penalty kick, and in the 23
rd minute
Brian Hara stepped up and put the ball in the net for the Conqs to own the 1-0 lead. It remained 1-0 through halftime and most of the second half until the final four minutes of the contest, when the Conqs broke through again on a counter Hara found
Towa Ochiai to make it 2-0 and solidify the Conqs road victory.
While the Conqs were outshot 15-8 in the matchup, the quality shots were in favor of the Conqs, with five of their eight shots being shots on goal and only three shots on goal for Western Texas.
In goal,
Rensho Ishikawa earned the win for the Conqs, recording three saves and a clean sheet.
Conqs take on Ranger on Sunday, August 30
th in Synder, Texas, and then return home for a matchup with Mineral Area on Tuesday, September 1
st during the day at Memorial Stadium in Dodge City.
