Dodge City softball returned to the win column, snapping a three-game losing streak by taking two on the road over Seward County to sweep the season series.
The Conquistadors topped the Saints of Seward County 6-4 and 10-2 to move to 37-15 and 19-7 in KJCCC action. The Conqs have won eight of the last nine meetings with Seward County, and the 19 KJCCC wins surpass last season's conference win total.
Up next, the Conqs will battle Barton at home on Wednesday, April 29th, before taking on Colby on back-to-back days: May 1st on the road and May 2nd at home, to cap the regular season.
Game 1 – Won 6-4 at Seward County
Conqs wasted little time getting things rolling on the day, as
Karen Galaviz opened the game with a double, then a single, and a walk loaded the bases for the Conqs.
Loren Sweat drove in the first run of the game on a single, then a fielder's choice later in the inning by
Jordyn Boxberger made it 2-0 Conqs. Seward County answered in the bottom of the first using a Conq error, a walk, a hit batter, and one hit to score three runs, taking a 3-2 lead. Seward County tacked on a run in the third, but the Conqs got back on the scoreboard in the fourth with a
Harley Shoaf RBI single.
Trailing by one, the Conqs tied the game in the sixth with a
Karli George RBI single and then took the lead with a Galaviz RBI single, going up 5-4.
Kloe Nelson drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the seventh to give the Conqs an insurance run. George in the circle and the Conqs' defense set Seward County down in order in the bottom of the seventh to secure the 6-4 victory.

Game 2 – Won 10-2 at Seward County
Just like game one, the Conqs jumped on Seward County early, scoring four runs in the first inning as a two RBI double from Sweat started the scoring, as the Conqs added two more. George, who finished game one, stymied the bats of Seward into the fifth inning. The top of the fifth saw the Conqs push another run across on an RBI double from
Riley Moore. In the bottom of the fifth, Seward County tallied a pair of runs. The Conqs looked to switch it up inside the circle as
Shyann Clark entered the game. The game made its way to the seventh at 5-2, and the Conqs exploded for five runs, highlighted by RBI doubles from George and
Sophie Faidley. Clark and the Conqs' defense finished out the contest in the bottom of the seventh, working around a few base runners to earn the 10-2 win.
George picked up her 16th win of the season in the circle throwing 4.2 innings giving up two runs on one hit and seven walks, while striking out eight which gives her over 100 strikeouts on the season. Clark finished the game, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up just three hits and one walk, while striking out four.
Moore paced the Conqs offense, going 3-4 with two runs scored, two RBI, a double, and a stolen base. Sweat added a 1-2 game with a double, three RBI, and a walk, while
