For the fourth straight year, the Dodge City women's basketball team is headed into the Region 6 Tournament semifinals after winning their quarterfinal matchup at home against Barton 69-60. 
 
The Conquistadors, with the win, improved to 26-4 on the season and punched their ticket to Great Bend on Friday, March 13th, to take on #13 Hutchinson at 5:30pm. 
 
Over the first five minutes of action, it was a stalemate as the game was tied 6-6, and out of the media timeout, Barton scored the next four points to lead 10-9. The Conqs finished the first quarter on a 6-2 run, regaining the lead on a Saje Evans layup to lead 11-10 and then led 15-12 after the first 10 minutes of play. After a Barton bucket to open the second quarter, the Conqs responded with an Evans three-pointer and a layup from Manuela Piljevic. Barton continued to hang around, pulling within two at 20-18, but a little 5-0 spurt put things back in favor of the Conqs, helping them lead 28-21 at intermission. 
 
In the third quarter, Barton didn't go away, battling all the way back to tie the game at 35-35 and then hit a three-pointer to grab the lead at 38-35. With 1:20 left in the third, the Conqs knotted the game up at 42-42, and a Piljevic three-pointer gave the Conqs the lead back at 45-42, helping the Conqs lead 47-44 entering the fourth quarter. Another quick 5-0 spurt to open the fourth quarter by the Conqs gave them control again, and Barton called a timeout. Conqs fended off the Cougars of Barton the rest of the way to secure the 69-60 win. 
 
The Conqs shot 46.3% and, despite only making six three-pointers, got the basket to get the offense going. Defensively, the Conqs held Barton to 31.7% shooting. 
 
Piljevic had another strong scoring performance as she tallied 24 points on 9-17 shooting and added six rebounds and four assists. Savi Mi added 17 points on 6-12 shooting, adding three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Evans chipped in nine points and nine rebounds, while Jade Célérier scored nine points with four rebounds and four assists. 
 
The Conqs continue their season on Friday, March 13th, in the Region 6 Tournament semifinals as they face off with #13 Hutchinson for the right to play for the Region 6 title.
