Volleyball Captures First Ever KJCCC Title With Road Sweep Versus Colby

October 29, 2026

For the first time in school history, Dodge City volleyball can call themselves Jayhawk Conference champions after a three-set road sweep of #7 Colby.

The Conquistadors earned the 3-0 win, 25-17, 25-22, 25-23, to finish the regular season with a 15-1 KJCCC record and improve to 26-5 for the season. The 26 wins are the most since 2010, and the Conqs' win streak stretches to 11 straight. In the series with Colby, the Conqs picked up a win on the road against the Trojans for the first time since 2022 and swept the season series with them for the first time since that year.

Looking to start the night strong, the Conqs doubled up Colby early at 10-5 in the first set and at 12-6 forced the Trojans into their first timeout on the night. Up seven at 20-14, the Conqs scored five of the final eight points in the first set to win it 25-17. After falling behind early in the second set, the Conqs pushed back and drew even at 12-12 and then took their first lead of the set at 15-14 behind a Sunni Skipps ace. Conqs fended off a Trojan run late in the second set to grab it 25-22. Conqs took an early 4-1 lead in the third set, but Colby answered back, and the set was tied 5-5. A 6-2 run in the set put the Conqs in front 20-14, but Colby managed to make another run, drawing even at 22-22 before the Conqs finished the night, taking the third set 25-23 for the win.

Anete Celnova posted a double-double, recording 10 kills and 12 digs, while Chelsea Durbridge tallied 29 assists and 11 digs for a double-double. Cantrill also tallied a double-double, finishing with 10 kills and 11 digs in the win. Rian Muntaner added 11 digs on the night.

The Conqs earned the #1 seed for the Region 6 tournament by winning the KJCCC title and will host Garden City on Wednesday, November 4th at 6:30 pm for the first round of the playoffs.
