Dodge City men's basketball, for the fourth straight week, is featured in the NJCAA Division I national rankings as they slip to #22 in the latest rankings.
After a tough week, the Conquistadors sit at 13-7 on the season and 9-5 in KJCCC action in a three-way tie for second place in the conference.
Alongside the Conqs two other KJCCC remained in the rankings this week as Butler moved up to #19 and Seward County moved down to #25.
Offensively, the Conqs have had success all season, scoring 82.8 points per game on 44% shooting, while the free-throw line has been a big piece of the team's success, also. On average, the Conqs are making 20.9 free throws per game, ranking fifth in the NJCAA as they attempt 28.1 per game and shoot 74.4% as a team (11th in NJCAA). The Conqs have made the fourth most free throws in the NJCAA with 439.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Conqs are surrendering 84 points per game on 41.3% shooting, but are protecting the rim with 5.4 blocks per game, which ranks 11th in the NJCAA. Conqs are also in the Top 20 in the nation in defensive rebounds at 29.2 per game.
The Conqs have 10 more games remaining in the regular season as they look to capture a top tier finish in the KJCCC and vie for the conference title. The season continues Saturday, January 31st, at home against Cloud County at 3:00 pm.
