Dodge City men's basketball team continues to be road warriors this season as they picked up another Jayhawk Conference victory on the road taking down Colby 88-73.
The win moves the Conquistadors to 11-16 on the season and 8-13 in KJCCC action, while improving to 9-4 on the road.
The Conqs would set the tone early with a
Wesly Rosa dunk and
Derrick Rivers three-pointer to lead 5-0 but Colby responded by scoring the next seven points. It would remain tight until the Conqs mounted a 7-0 run to go up 22-16 with 6:41 in the first half. Colby pushed back and evened the game at 24-24 with 3:38 left in the first half. The Conqs would outscore the Trojans of Colby 14-5 over the final three and a half minutes of the first half to lead 38-29 at halftime. The lead jumped to 10 early in the second half for the Conqs but Colby would draw within four at 44-40 five minutes into the second half. Conqs would continually hold Colby off and push the lead back to double figures at 61-51 behind a Rivers three-pointer at the 8:48 mark. The Conqs would go on to secure the road win 88-73 over Colby.
Conqs would shoot 41.8% in the contest draining 11 three-pointers and would add a 21-23 day from the free throw line, while Colby shot 44.1% but was only 16-23 from the charity stripe.
Mynor Strong had a huge performance for the Conqs dropping a career-best 30 points and was 7-8 from the free throw line, adding seven rebounds, six steals, and three assists. Rivers chipped in 20 points going 8-8 from the free-throw line while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out six assists.
Keshawn Brown Jr. chipped in 15 points off the bench going 4-8 from the field.
