Dodge City men's soccer got the second half of the KJCCC slate of games underway as they traveled to Great Bend to take on Barton and despite tallying the first goal of the game the Conquistadors suffered a 3-1 loss on the road.
The loss sends the Conqs to 3-6 on the season and 3-4 in KJCCC action.
After a battle to open KJCCC play earlier in the season in Dodge City the Conqs knew the second go-around against Barton would be a tough contest and it proved to be that. The Conqs snagged the lead 21 minutes into the contest as
Hamza Bennadi took advantage of an opportunity and got the Conqs a 1-0 lead. Barton countered with their first goal nearly seven minutes later to even at 1-1. Just two and half minutes into the second half Barton snatched the lead getting their second goal and would add one more in the 75th as the Conqs fell 3-1 on the road.
The Conqs battled throughout the matchup but were outshot 14-11 overall in the game and 10-5 in the second half after outshooting Barton 6-4 in the first half.
Conqs step out of conference play to continue the season on Wednesday, October 2nd at home against Trinidad State.
