Dodge City women's soccer opened the fall season with a road trip to the panhandle of Oklahoma to take on Oklahoma Panhandle State University and suffered a 3-1 loss in the season opener. 
 
The Conquistadors looked to try and take early control with a few early opportunities but in the 18th minute, the Aggies of OPSU would strike. After earning a corner kick opportunity, the Aggies put the ball in the middle of the top of the box and pushed it in for the first goal of the contest. The Conqs would respond just over three minutes later off a Miriam El Mir free kick the ball would deflect off Aggie players and Alda Gomes would strike for the goal to even the contest up at 1-1. 
 
The match would remain tied at 1-1 entering halftime and would stay tied until the 53rd minute with an Aggie player slipped past the Conqs defense to position herself in a spot to receive a cross and net the second goal of the day for OPSU. While the Conqs would make some pushes to draw even it was ultimately OPSU finding another goal in the 63rd minute to send the Conqs to a 3-1 loss in the season opener. 
 
The Conqs were outshot 12-9 but six of the team's shots were on goal in the contest. Ana Ramirez-Cortes registered five saves in the matchup. 
 
The season continues for the Conqs on Saturday, August 24th at 6:00 pm when they have their home opener against McPherson in another non-conference contest.
