Box Score Dodge City men's soccer stepped out of conference play again and took on another top-flight opponent facing off against #1 Indian Hills in Kansas City.
While the Conquistadors gave the Warriors a run for their money it was three second-half goals by Indian Hills that doomed the Conqs on the day falling 4-1. The loss moves the Conqs to 4-7-1 on the season.
The Conqs would generate a few chances early while Indian Hills fired off multiple tries, but it wasn't until ten minutes into the contest when a penalty kick was awarded to the Warriors that the first goal of the match came. Indian Hills took the early lead and attempted to add to it but
Felipe Samary and
Cristobal Juan Berrios each would have strong defensive plays to block shot opportunities for the Warriors and
Geovanni De Luna made some strong saves. Clock winding down in the first half the Conqs looked to continue to challenge Indian Hills and
Pablo Gil Hevia would fire in a goal to draw the Conqs even in the 41st minute leading to a 1-1 tie at halftime.
In the second it would remain tight with the Conqs' defense again stymieing the Warriors until some errant passes led Indian Hills to another chance, they would cash in on in the 59th minute and then add another just minutes later in the 61st minute. Indian Hills tacked on one more in the 67th minute and the Conqs had a big hill to climb but would be able to net another goal falling 4-1.
The Conqs were outshot 28-18 in the loss while De Luna recorded nine saves in the match and the defense alongside him had some strong plays blocking a few other Indian Hills shots.
The Conqs return to KJCCC play as they will take on #4 Cowley on Wednesday, October 9th at 7:00 pm in Arkansas City.
