Box Score Dodge City men's soccer grabbed their fifth win of the season beating Coffeyville on the road in a grind it out 1-0 victory.
The win moves the Conquistadors to 5-2-1 on the season and 3-2-1 in conference play, while also snapping a three-match losing streak to Coffeyville. The win marks the first win over the Red Ravens since 2015 for the Conqs.
The first half was a tight battle that saw limited opportunities on both sides of the ball and ultimately led to halftime with the contest remaining scoreless. Paced picked up in the second half as the Conqs would get shots off by several different athletes and in the 62
nd minute off a corner kick
Theo Hoang would push the ball in for what would be the only goal in the matchup.
Aaron Melgar and
Cristobal Juan Berrios tallied an assist on the play. The Conqs would stop a few runs by Coffeyville and secure the 1-0 road win.
Conqs finished with 13 shots in the contest with eight coming in the second half, while
Daniel Ruiz got the start in goal and recorded four saves and the shutout.
Up next the Conqs will play a non-conference contest on Monday, September 25
th at 5:00 pm in Salina against Kansas Wesleyan JV and then will be back in conference play on Wednesday, September 27
th in Great Bend against #7 Barton.
