Dodge City softball team wrapped up the regular season with a pair of road losses in Great Bend falling 20-1 in five innings and 11-4 against Barton.
The Conquistadors move to 17-28 on the season and finish 12-20 in KJCCC action.
Up next the Conqs will participate in the Region VI Tournament which will be hosted in Dodge City at Legends Park on Friday, May, 5th through Sunday, May 7th.
Game 1 – Lost 20-1 at Barton (5 innings)
The Conqs would open the day strong as
Melanie Castro led the inning off with a single and three batters later would come into score on an RBI single by K'lee Flores to make it 1-0 in the top of the first inning. Barton countered quickly by scoring six runs in the bottom of the first inning and then the Cougars would continue to find offense tallying another run in the second before having an outburst of offense in the third plating 13 runs, leading to a 20-1 win in for Barton in five innings.
In the loss, the Conqs were outhit 21-6 by Barton. Castro and
Rylie Hufford each had a pair of hits for the Conqs to lead the offense. It was a 2-3 game with a double and run scored for Castro, while Hufford was 2-2. Flores added a 1-3 game with an RBI.
Game 2 – Lost 11-4 at Barton
It was early offense for the Conqs again in game two as Flores helped deliver a pair of runs again early scoring two on a single in the top of the first after Castro led the inning off with a single and
Reneau Ratzlaff got on base via a hit by pitch. In the third, the Conqs doubled their lead as
Addison Spencer smacked a two-run homer to make it 4-0 but Barton would swing the lead their way in the bottom of the third plating five runs. The Cougars would add two more runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth to extend their lead, handing the Conqs an 11-4 loss in the regular season finale.
Flores finished 2-4 with two RBI, while Spencer was 2-4 with a home run, run scored, and two RBI. Castro added a 2-4 game with two runs scored and reached on an error twice.
