Men's Basketball Wins Battle with Rival Garden City

Dodge City men's basketball picked up their third straight win claiming victory over rival Garden City at home on Saturday, 84-76.

The win marks the sixth straight in the series for the Conquistadors, while moving the Conqs to 17-6 on the season and 13-4 in KJCCC action.

The first half proved to be a see-saw affair as the Conqs and Broncbusters of Garden City would trade leads back-and-forth. Broncbusters would establish an early five-point lead at 11-6 but the Conqs countered to lead 20-14 with 12:24 left in the first half. With just over eight minutes left in the first half Garden City snagged the lead back briefly as the Conqs would work to a seven-point lead at 34-27. The Conqs would hold on to the lead, but Garden City closed the gap to three-points just before halftime making it 43-40 at intermission. The second half was much of the same as the first with both teams trading blows back and forth and each owning leads. Locked up at 70-70 with just under six minutes it would be the Conqs finishing the game outscoring Garden City 14-6 to secure the win. The Conqs would make plays late and hit a few free throws to snatch the 84-76 win.

Both teams finished 44.3% from the field in the contest but the Conqs won the rebound battle 42-35 and forced 13 Garden turnovers.

Jason Edwards once again led the Conqs as he finished with 25 points on 9-15 shooting including 4-4 from three-point range, adding five rebounds. Jacobi Sebock tallied a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Chris Robinson had a strong game with 18 points and eight rebounds. Cam Malray chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds.
