Dodge City women's basketball continues to roll as they stretched their win streak to 12-straight games behind a 75-64 win over Seward County, avenging their only KJCCC loss of the season and snapping a 33-game losing streak to the Saints.
The win moves the Conquistadors to 19-2 on the season and 14-1 in KJCCC action. Conqs have now won 15-straight games at home, while the 19 wins matches last year's total wins and the 14 KJCCC wins marks a school record for single season conference wins.
Conqs raced out to an early 7-0 lead and would work to a 12-2 lead with just under four minutes remaining in the first quarter giving them a double figure lead early against Seward. The first quarter finished with the Conqs leading 22-6 as Seward hit just one field goal in the first 10-minutes and shot 7.7% from the field. The Conqs continued to control things in the second quarter as the shooting woes continued for Seward and it was 36-25 heading into halftime. The second half would be back-and-forth with the Conqs fending off Seward to maintain a double figure lead until late in the game when the Saints knocked the lead down to two possessions. Behind clutch free throws and steady play the Conqs secured the 75-64 win at home.
Defensively the Conqs stymied the Saints all day holding them to just 24.6% shooting the second lowest mark by an opponent this season (lowest 23% versus Cowley in recent win). Conqs would win the battle on the boards 43-35, while the game featured 76 free throws combined (31-40 Seward and 27-36 Dodge City).
Jenna Rose Mafua led a quintet of double figure scorers as she tallied 17 points on 5-7 shooting including four three-pointers, while adding six rebounds.
Paris Santacaterina chipped in 11 points going 7-9 from the free throw line.

Bree Stephens each recorded 10 points in the win. Anderson and Mafua each also grabbed eight rebounds, while Stephens had four rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.
The Conqs will hit the road on Wednesday, February 1
st when they take on Northwest Kansas Tech at 6:30 pm (5:30pm MT).
