Men's Basketball Wins Battle With Pratt

Dodge City men's basketball continue to have strong grip of first place in the KJCCC after winning a battle with Pratt, as they claimed the 82-74. 
 
The Conquistadors with the win moved to 14-3 on the season and 10-1 in KJCCC action. 
 
Back-and-forth throughout the first half between the Conqs and the Pratt Beavers with both teams trading the lead throughout the first half. Pratt led 27-22 with 7:05 left in the first half and the Conqs countered with a 6-0 run to snag the 28-22 advantage with 5:24 left in the first half. The Conqs held the lead late in the first half, but Pratt snagged the advantage before halftime and led 40-39 at intermission. After a scoreless first two minutes to the second half both teams would get on the board, and it would remain tight with the Conqs just edging ahead and then went up 54-48 with 12:24 left in the game. Trailing in the minute two minutes the Conqs put together a 7-0 run to led 76-71 forcing a Beavers timeout. The Conqs would finish out the game securing the ball and the win to grab 82-74 win. 
 
The Conqs took care of the ball throughout the night finishing with only six turnovers while Pratt had 18. Offensively the Conqs shot 41.4% on the night while Pratt shot 40.9%. Conqs also had a season best nine blocks in the win. 
 
Jason Edwards dropped 30 points in the win going 9-10 from the charity stripe, while Cam Malray had his best performance as a Conq finishing with a season-high 19 points, adding seven rebounds and five blocks. DJ Jones added 11 points, while both Jacobi Sebock and Chris Robinson each chipped in 10 points. 
 
Conqs hit the road on Saturday, January 14th to continue the season as they will take on Barton in Great Bend at 4:00 pm.
