After a strong 2021 season for the Dodge City volleyball program, Head Coach,
Jordan Bruere will enter the 2022 season with a new assistant coach by her side to help continue the growth of the Conquistador program.
Jacob Sander joins the Dodge City Community College athletics department as assistant volleyball coach.
"Dodge City has a great reputation as a school and a program and I'm very excited to be part of that. The volleyball team have been continuously showing progress and have become a competitive program that I look forward to helping continue to grow and improve," said Sander about the opportunity to join the Conquistador volleyball coaching staff.
He comes to Dodge City with a wealth of volleyball coaching and playing experience at different levels. During his time as a coach, he served as an assistant at the University of South Alabama (2015-18) and at West Florida (2018-19). He's also worked with the Mobile Storm Volleyball club and served as assistant director for seven years for the juniors club in the indoor program, while he also founded and spent three years as the director of the Mobile Storm Beach Volleyball club.
In college while attending South Alabama he helped establish the men's program and played for them for three years (2013-15). He played libero and setter for a men's open independent team (2015-17) based out of Nashville and traveled the country playing in tournaments. Sander also played men's A and open level beach tournaments all over the country for the last four years.
Looking to help build upon last season's fourth place finish in the Jayhawk Conference for the Conquistadors, along with winningest season since 2017 and most Conference wins since 2010, Sander hopes to add his knowledge of volleyball to fold for the Conqs and continue to help the program grow.
"I hope to bring plenty of knowledge of both high-level techniques and strategies that I have learned through my coaching and playing experience. I'm a team oriented individual and I plan to help continue the growth and development of the program that Coach Jordan has built into one that is not just competing at a high level but also one that demonstrates cohesion as a team and a staff," said Sander.
Conq volleyball team is set to open the 2022 season this fall in mid-August with the season starting on August 19
