Men's Basketball Earns Spot in Region VI Championship With Win Over Garden City

The Dodge City men's basketball team will play for the Region VI Championship for the first time since the 2015 season and look to capture their first Region title since 1982 after an 89-77 Region VI Semifinal win.

The Conquistadors with the win moved to 28-4 on the season and extend their win streak to 11-straight games matching the longest of the season.

The Conqs who were locked in a back-and-forth affair with Garden City would overcome becoming outshot by 21 shots and 11 more free-throws by the Broncbusters and a season-high 24 turnovers. Conqs trailed in the first half but and surge late including a pair of Nick Pringle swung the lead to the Conqs' favor as halftime lingered, but the game was tied at 39-39 at intermission. In the second half, the Conqs saw Garden City gain a nine-point lead with 8:21 left to play in the game but that lead would dissipate and the Conqs pushed back to finish the game strong outscoring the Broncbusters 33-12 after Garden City had established a nine-point lead as the game finished 89-77.

The Conqs for the 16th time this season shot over 50% in a game finishing 56.3% from the floor shooting 21 fewer shots than Garden City in the game.

Themus Fulks led the Conqs with 21 points on 9-12 shooting, while Oumar Koureissi added 16 points going 6-7 from the free-throw line, and grabbed five rebounds. BJ Freeman finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Pringle chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds going 7-7 from the floor. Kerwin Prince added 10 points and five rebounds.
