Men's Basketball Sets Single Season Record for KJCCC Wins With Victory Over Pratt

The history continues to pile up for the Dodge City men's basketball team as they picked up their record-setting 20th Conference win of the season marking the most KJCCC wins in a single season as the Conquistadors beat Pratt 99-82.

The win pushes the Conqs to 25-4 on the season and 20-3 in KJCCC play, while also allowing them to finish the regular season a perfect 15-0 at home.

Back-and-forth the contest went between the Conqs and the Beavers of Pratt over the first five minutes of action, but the Conqs then put together an 8-0 run to take control leading 21-12 with 11 and half minutes remaining in the first half. That lead would grow as the Conqs turned that 8-0 run into an 18-2 surge and lead 31-14 with eight minutes left in the first half. Heading into intermission the Conqs carried a 46-34 lead over Pratt as Themus Fulks led the charge for Dodge City with 17 first-half points. In the second half, the contest saw Pratt make several advances including swinging the lead in their favor at 56-55 with just under 14 minutes remaining. Conqs regained the lead with the next three buckets and didn't give it up the rest of the way pushing the lead back to double figures ultimately securing the 99-82 victory.

For the 14th time, this season the Conqs shot 50+% from the floor as a team, doing so in now seven of the last eight games as they shot 58.1% against Pratt.

Helping lead the way on the night was a monster double-double for Kerwin Prince who had a season-best 21 points on 9-12 shooting and went 3-4 from the free-throw line while grabbing 11 rebounds. Fulks added 25 points on 10-11 shooting and 5-7 from the charity stripe while dishing out seven assists. BJ Freeman also tallied double figures with 15 points, adding five rebounds and four assists as he went 4-7 from three-point range.

The Conqs will wrap up the regular season with a trip to Great Bend on Wednesday, February 23rd to take on Barton.
