Men's Basketball Wins Ninth Game In Row Beating Rival Garden City

Dodge City men's basketball made it nine straight wins as they traveled out west and topped rival Garden City 96-88.

The win pushes the Conquistadors to 9-1 on the season and kept them unbeaten in Conference play at 5-0. It's the fifth straight win in the series over the Broncbusters and marks the 30th career win as a Head Coach for Brad Witherspoon.

It was a tight contest throughout most of the first half as both teams held leads but with just over four minutes left in the first half a Chris Robinson three-pointer gave the Conqs a 34-31 lead. The lead grew to as high as eight points late in the first half and led to the Conqs carrying a 45-38 lead into halftime. The Conqs shot 48.6% from the floor in the first half and took care of the ball with only four turnovers in the half to hold the advantage. Conqs grew the lead in the second half extending it to double figures, making its way to 22 points with just over 11 minutes remaining in the contest. Garden City however pushed back drawing within striking distance in the latter portion of the contest and the Conqs would fend on the Broncbusters' comeback attempt to secure the 96-88 win.

Conqs shot 48.6% from the floor and had just six turnovers (lowest in a game this season) in the contest while sharing the ball well with 20 assists on 36 made field goals. The Conqs also matched their season-high of 10 made three-pointers in a contest going 10-20 from three-point range.

Leading the way for the Conqs was Jason Edwards who dropped 21 points with four assists, while Chris Robinson chipped in 20 points with seven assists and four rebounds. DJ Jones added 18 points with six assists, while Cam Malray posted 16 points and eight rebounds. Jacobi Sebock chipped in 11 points all in the second half and grabbed seven rebounds.

Up next the Conqs head to El Dorado as they will take on Butler to continue Jayhawk Conference action on Wednesday, December 7th at 7:30 pm.
