Dodge City men's soccer jumped back into the win column with a road win over Garden City to make it five-straight in the series versus the Broncbusters and wins in eight of the last 10 meetings.
The Conquistadors worked for a tough 2-0 win behind a pair of second-half goals moving to 10-6 on the season and 4-5 in KJCCC action.
The Conqs had several opportunities throughout the first half outshooting Garden City 11-5, but the contest remained scoreless heading into intermission. In the second half, the Conqs would find the back of the net in the 54th minute as
Bastien Dechamps put in a pass from
Diego Marcelino Olivares to make it 1-0. In the 57th minute, the Conqs would go down a man due to a red card but would continue to make some runs while settling in defensively to hold the Broncbusters off the board. In the 69th minute, the Conqs broke through again as Dechamps cashed in on his second goal off another Olivares pass and the Conqs made the 2-0 score hold up.
Conqs were out shot in the contest 14-13 but made the best of their opportunities with Dechamps netting the two goals and Olivares tallying two assists.
Daniel Ruiz was stout in goal for Conqs going the distance for the shutout win.
The Conqs were scheduled to take on Cowley on October 26th but the Tigers will have to forfeit the match and it will be credited as a no contest.
