On Friday the Dodge City men's soccer team traveled to Bethel College in Newton, Kansas to get their season rolling and came away with a 2-0 victory in the contest; winning the match at halftime as the game was called at the half by Bethel due to heat.
The Conquistadors looked to push early and while opportunities presented themselves it was not until the 27th minute when they broke through as
Teshepiso Mokwatsi tallied the first goal of the season for Dodge City on a beautiful pass ahead from
Jonathan Olivera Emidio. Conqs pushed it to 2-0 when
Marlon Pineda was able to get a rebound goal. In the goal, it was
Marco Galardini for the Conqs and he kept a clean sheet recording four saves.
Leading 2-0 at halftime the Conqs were eager to get back on the pitch to continue the contest but Bethel College delayed the game due to heat and ultimately called the game at the half giving the Conqs the 2-0 win and a 1-0 start to the season.
It's back to action quickly for the Conqs as they travel to Goodwell, Oklahoma to take on Oklahoma Panhandle State University for a 3:00 pm contest.
