Dodge City men's basketball team topped rival Garden City for the fourth time in the last five meetings and held the Broncbusters to under 70 points for the first time since 2017 picking up the convincing 101-69 win.
The win moves the Conquistadors to 9-1 on the season and 4-0 in KJCCC action.
The first half was a tight contest from horn to horn between the Conqs and Broncbusters as the Conqs held the lead must of the first half but only by a few points seeing Garden City tie the contest multiple times and even lead. By halftime, the Conqs led 41-37 behind double figures from
Themus Fulks and
Oumar Koureissi who each had 13 and 11 points, respectively at halftime.
After some strong shooting in the first half, the Conqs continued to drop in buckets in the second half scoring 60 points in the half and continually growing the lead against the Broncbuster en-route to the 101-69 victory.
Offensively the Conqs were hot throughout the night shooting 68.3% from the floor, the best shooting performance this season. Conqs would also win the rebounding battle by 10, while defensively holding Garden City in check as the Broncbusters shot just 37.3% from the floor and 14.3% from three-point range.
Through four conference games, the Conqs are holding Conference opponents to just 58 points per game on 36.7% shooting.
Four double-figure scorers led the way for the Conqs on the night with a career-high by Fulks leading the way as he scored 23 points and added two rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
Kalen Williams recorded his third 20 point game of the season going 6-11 from the floor and 7-7 from the free-throw line.
Kerwin Prince had his best game as a Conq finishing with 17 points and seven rebounds as he was 8-8 from the floor. Koureissi finished with 15 points and five rebounds, while
Mykell Robinson tallied nine points and six rebounds.
Nick Pringle snagged 11 rebounds in just 14 points.
