Conquistadors Hang With #20 Cowley

(Dodge City, KS) - Wednesday January 8th 

There was a shootout in Dodge City last night! Not the one that you would typically think of when considering it was in Dodge City. This shootout occured inside the Student Activity Center as the Conqs welcomed the #20 Cowley Tigers to the SAC in the first home game of 2020. The Conqs were faced with a very tough challenge with the Tigers as they came into the game nationally ranked in multiple categories, including being #1 in the nation in shots attempted and steals. Not to mention putting up 47 three's a game as well. Well, last night was no different for the Tigers but what was surprising is that the Conqs matched them for most of the game! The Conqs came out firing on all cylinders and holding a lead on the Tigers all the way to the 10:57 mark of the first half when Cowley tied the game at 28 off one of their 11 made three's of the game. Freshman Forward Myron Washington lead the Conqs in first half points with 12 and 13 rebounds. The Conqs went into the locker room at the break only trailing the #20 Tigers by 10 points, 57-67. 
The second half saw the Tigers pull aways with a 14 point lead early but the Conqs stayed poised to come within 5 points at the mid-way mark of the second half. It would stay at or around the 10 point deficet the remaining 10 minutes with multiple missed layups and close shots being missed by the Conqs down the stretch that would have pulled them closer to the Tigers. 
With the close loss, the Conqs fall to 8-7 overall and 0-6 in KJCCC play.

Next Game: The Conqs will next host Coffeyville CC this Saturday inside the Student Activity Center. Game time is scheduled for 3PM
