(Dodge City, KS) -- The Dodge City Community College Baseball team gained some momentum after losing four to Seward by playing well in the two-game set against Otero Junior College, sweeping them, winning game one 9-1, and 6-4.
The game one scoring would start off early with Otero scoring one in the top half of the second. That lead would be brief, as
Cameron Fritz would score on an error to tie the game. That would be just the start of it as the Conquistadors would add three more in the third. Two runs would score on singles by
Garrett McGowan and Fritz. Another would cross home plate on a
Jackson Hogg triple. In the fourth
Spencer Marcus would hit a double, adding to the Conq lead. The Conquistadors would keep the pedal the pedal down, scoring four more runs, two on singles, and two on sacrifice flies to give them the 9-1 lead they would win with.
Game two would again start with Otero scoring a run in the first inning. Just like game one, that lead was short lived with the Conqs adding three runs in the second inning.
Spencer Marcus hit a solo shot, his seventh of the year. Later in the inning
Trey Vasquez would plate two runs on a double. After Otero scored one in the third, the Conqs would score two in the bottom half to take a 5-2 lead. Neither team would score again until each team added a run in the fifth, with the Conqs scoring on a sacrifice fly giving them the 6-3 lead. Otero would score one more but it would not be enough as the Conqs took the win 6-4 to complete the sweep.
The Conqs have a couple days off until they play a home and home against Colby Community College.
