(Dodge CIty, KS) - The DC3 Women's Basketball team kicked off the 2019-20 season in a big way at the Student Activity Center Tuesday night against a fast and resilient Trinidad State Trojan team. The CONQS started off hot by jumping out to a 27 point lead (31-4) with :19 remaining in the 1st quarter. The Trojans only managed to get within 17 points twice in the 2nd quarter (5:13 and :51). The 1st half came to a close with the CONQS leading 50-28.
The CONQS maintain a 20 or more point lead throughout the 3rd quarter and headed into the final frame leading 73-49. Trojans mounted a strong comeback in the 4th quarter cutting the lead to within 14 points but there was only 00:02 left on the clock in regulation. The CONQS got their first win of the 2019-20 season by a score of 89-75. The CONQS were lead by
Sydney Thurwalker and
Faith Cattouse each with 15 pts and
Ashia Pool and
Emery Maze with 12 pts a piece. The Trojans were lead by Maria Llorente with 34 pts.
The CONQS will be on the road this Friday and Saturday to Liberal KS to take part in the Seward County Classic. They'll play Friends JV Friday at 4PM and Western Oklahoma State Saturday at 4PM.
